The Abrams

The Abrams
Thu, Apr. 11, 2019 – 7:00PM

“The Abrams Brothers are way too young to be playing that good” – Arlo Guthrie

“The Abrams certainly know how to build a song…it’s in [their] blood, natural, to just get in front of people and play…just brilliant!  – Bob Harris, BBC Radio 2, London UK”

“Released last year, their major-label debut is a self-titled EP that features a down-to-earth blend of fiddle, acoustic guitar, banjo and sweet brotherly harmonies. At the same time, it gets a big rhythmic boost with elements of pop and rock. The first single, Fine, is an irresistible nugget with a pure pop chorus, while the second, Champion, has the backbone of an arena-rock anthem anchoring a poignant story about everyday heroes.” – Ottawa Citizen

“Each of the six tracks on their debut EP truly demonstrates and defines their musical roots blended with the sound of their generation. This blend makes for the perfect car drive with the windows open and the sun beaming down.” – Lithium Magazine

It’s hard for John and James Abrams to recall a time in their young lives where they weren’t creating and playing music together. As fourth-generation musicians, the Abrams have already taken the “family business” to a whole new level with their recent signing with Warner Music, and the release of their debut self-titled album under a major label. Still only in their mid-twenties, they have been taking their distinct Americana/Country sound on worldwide tours for over sixteen years, and have been featured on major United States networks like CMT, NBC, FOX, and NPR. Additionally, the Abrams are among the youngest performers to ever play the world-famous Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. Last year, their debut single, “Fine,” charted in the Top 40 on Country Radio.

With deep family roots in Bluegrass and Gospel music, their live performances feature a virtuosic blend of new original songs produced by Grammy Award-nominated producer Gavin Brown (Three Days Grace, Lady Gaga/The Midway State, The Tragically Hip). Performances also feature their own versions of classic Americana and Country songs that have influenced their sound over the years. You will certainly find yourself entertained by this world-class act that Arlo Guthrie calls “way too young to be playing that good”.

Vocal Trash

Wed, Jan. 16, 2019 – 7:00PM

“We continually send Vocal Trash over-seas for our Peace – Love – Recycle initiatives. By design, their performances transcend all barriers connecting with the human spirit like no other.” – Robert Kieth, Cultural Programs, U. S. Department of State

“By far the most crowd-pleasing group I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.” – Terry Fator, Americas Got Talent (Las Vegas Mirage)

Best described as “entertainment with a conscience”, Vocal Trash is an urban-themed Broadway style production that reconnects us with our planet and it’s inhabitance. This 7-member, green-minded troupe rescues items from landfills to create a meaningful experience unlike any other. Toolbox guitars, a milk-urn bass and numerous repurposed industrial percussion props accompany singing, breakdancing, and comedy, leaving the audience not only entertained, but inspired to spread peace, love and recycling. Along with their annual coast to coast touring, Vocal Trash has recently toured to Europe, Asia and the Middle East to help promote their new original musical collection/CD Let Peace Begin. The groups focus is to spread their message at home and abroad utilizing the universal language of song and dance.

Vocal Trash fuses world-class entertainment with world saving awareness. This mantra may very well be the reason this Texas-based group is garnering world-wide attention from not only new found followers (affectionately known as “Trash-Heads,”) but also the green industry. Their art has been described as “music with a conscience.” With their seemingly endless energy and one of a kind concept, these world-class entertainers have toured extensively, made guest appearances on morning shows, been the subject of countless news articles and earned a substantial grass-roots fan base from New York to Seattle and abroad.

Now, more than ever, it’s vital we think in terms of recycling to make a cleaner, healthier planet for future generations. This has been the mission of Vocal Trash since their inception. Their shows raise awareness and make a positive impact all around the country and abroad. The group’s lead singer, Kelsey Rae, takes their recycling and repurposing message a step further in her unique children’s book, THINK … Before You Throw It Away. Featured on the Hallmark Channel, the book, written in the whimsical style of Dr. Seuss, tells the story of Claire, a 10-year-old girl who finds adventure in a city landfill, of all places. Together with some new and unusual friends, she discovers that through better choices we can help save our planet. Claire’s newly created musical group, Vocal Trash, inspires kids to learn how they can make a difference by reusing, recycling and yes, THINKING… before they throw it away!

“The story allows us to imagine a world where the items we love can live forever through recycling and up-cycling,” – Kelsey Rae

The Malpass Brothers

The Malpass Brothers

George Jones once recorded a song called ‘Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes’ which wondered if great country singers would come along in the future to take the place of the great old ones from the past… Well, George, maybe your prayer’s been answered. These guys don’t just sound retro. They are retro.”  – Dan MacIntosh, Roothog Radio

May be just the kind of effort that saves country music from complete pop oblivion.” – SteelGuitarForum.com

They’re no museum piece or revival act designed to show how music was performed long ago. They are a working band that uses its talent to entertain and nourish souls.” – Jack Bernhardt

The biggest surprise of the night… You were transported back 50 years… pure talent.” – The Californian

Stepped out of another time…definitely the East Carolina act to watch for on the national music scene.” – Greenville Daily Reflector

These guys don’t just sound retro…they are retro!

As young boys, Christopher and Taylor Malpass soaked up the music of their granddad’s phonograph records. Born with a proclivity for music, Christopher earned his first talent show trophy at age 7, and Taylor was playing mandolin by the time he was 10. Today, they promote the work and music of the classic country artists they treasure, while also creating new music and making their own mark on the rich, cultural lineage of genuine country music. With sincerity, honesty and an utter ease on stage that belies their years, their smooth vocal blend and skillful musicianship layer infectiously into the deep respect they pay to legends who have paved the way. Add the funny, off-the-cuff quips between the two 20-something year old siblings, and the engaging concert becomes a magnetic time-traveling journey to when a calmer rhythm reigned supreme.

The Malpass Brothers toured with the late Don Helms, former steel guitarist for Hank Williams, have opened for music legend Merle Haggard on multiple tours, and appeared on stages from the Shetland Islands to the Ryman Auditorium to Merlefest. Gifted musicians and songwriters, the brothers have shared billing with country music legends like Ray Price, Willie Nelson, Doyle Lawson, Rhonda Vincent, Marty Stuart, Doc Watson and more. The title cut video from their album Memory That Bad hit CMT Pure Country’s Top Ten. Their most recent self-titled recording, produced by bluegrass legend Doyle Lawson, was released by Crossroads’ Organic Records in 2015.

If you like cornbread & hush puppies, you’re gonna love the Malpass Brothers!  If you like sweet tea, barbecue & collard greens, you’re gonna love the Malpass Brothers!  If you like clean crisp air over a freshly-plowed field, if you like a great big ol’ corn puddin’ at a homecoming – you’re gonna love the Malpass Brothers! This is the real deal, folks! This is music steeped in the legacy of the Louvin Brothers, Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, Hank Williams, Sr. & others.  Count on classic, real country, new Malpass tunes, and old-time gospels. This is authentic, down-home country in its most raw, unfiltered form!

“Obsessed with this show!!!! Incredible Talent!”

Great music and a wonderfully entertaining group of musicians!

I work at a venue that sees a lot of acts, and this by far was the best we ever hosted!
-Haley N, Florida Venue

When you look out over the landscape of tribute bands, many of them are dedicated to Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, The Big Bopper and their infamous “Winter Dance Party”. So, you might wonder, what is so different about Not Fade Away? Not Fade Away was created out of survival – but not the survival of the players in the band. Not Fade Away was created out of the survival of this incredible, legendary and important music created well over 50 years ago.

Having also been a part of many standard tribute shows, Not Fade Away wants to create a new show that will keep this music relevant, give it edge, bring it into today’s music scene, while not forgetting the importance of the music’s place in history and the impact it had on the world. They’re not just looking to dwell on “The Day the Music Died”. These greats were more than their last night on Earth; they were the pioneers of Rock n’ Roll. They gifted an energetic new kind of music, changing the landscape for an entire generation of music listeners and music makers alike. Not Fade Away hopes to revamp and re-gift those songs to a new generation so that they may last another 50 years.
